As we mark International Women's Day 2021 on the 8th March, we thought we would take the opportunity to shine the spotlight on the women who help to make our business a success.
First up we have Pen Will, Director.
Read here about her journey from a ticket seller to Director with SEP.
"In my younger days I managed to carve out a reasonable career for myself in electronics, but this was achieved very much between lengthy trips around the globe to satisfy my first love which was to travel and see the world.
On returning from a year in Australia and looking for something different to try I saw an advert for tickets sellers at Goodwood FOS, which happened to be close to where I was staying with family at the time.
This led to an interview with none other than Mike Rodgers, the then owner and MD of SEP. What was to follow, was the start of a new career for me that allowed the most perfect mix of work and lifestyle balance.
Traveling the UK, every few days a different place, a different day with different challenges, managing my own clients, job satisfaction, team spirit and to top it all, enough time on in the quieter winter season to allow for those lengthy trips abroad.
Well, that was 20 years ago and now thanks to the hard work of our growing team we have an extended season and are now kept pretty busy (in a normal year) all year round, however I am lucky that I still get some winter weeks away in our new favourite place, Playa Blanca.
While I have specialised in the people side of the business over the years, I am pleased that I am still very active in the operations world for the event season, which I love. The 5:30 starts in the morning waiting for all the staff, new and regulars to arrive, then thanking them and waving them away 3 or 4 days later, with the satisfaction of having delivered a successful event together.
What amazing people I get to meet and places I get to go to and all part of my job. Although I confess I prefer the motor events now rather than the music festivals, I can't keep up with the late nights these days.
So, all in all, despite the last lockdown year, this has been a fantastic last 20 years, roll on summer, 2021 when we can get to doing what we do best."
