We continue to shine the spotlight on the women who help to make our business a success and next up is Kelly (Kells) McCaffrey.
Kells is our Health and Safety Manager, but her journey with SEP didn't start there.
Take a look at how Kells progressed.
“I'm the Health & Safety Manager at SEP and I ensure that staff are kept safe at events. I do still get my boots dirty and will always assist the operational team when needed, it is where I started off within the company; I find it advantageous to keep up to date with operational working practises when being in the H&S sector.
V Festival was my very first event; boots on the ground, in August 2006. Over the months in 2007, I worked at a few more events and loved the event life so much that I left my job working in a shop in 2008 and I've never looked back.
I began as a supervisor in 2009 and became a fulltime member of staff in 2012. 2013 was my first introduction to H&S, completing the IOSH Managing Safely course. I was still very much operational during the busy months and wintertime was based around H&S and other admin work.
I'm now qualified to Diploma level; NCRQ in Applied Health & Safety and hold Lantra qualifications. If you need me in a car park as your left or right arm, supervising a cash operation or working on a pedestrian crossing, I'm your gal.
The events world may be a predominantly male environment but us ladies in event life can hold our own.”
